Mediating Effects of Parenting Style on the Relationship between Middle School Students¡¯ Perception of Marital Conflict and their Child¡¯s Game Immersion

Abstract
The main objectives of this study are to identify the mediating effect of parenting style on the relationship between middle school students¡¯ perception of marital conflict and their child¡¯s game immersion. Subjects consisted of 532 middle school students in Jinju. Results of correlation and regression analysis and sobel test showed that child¡¯s game immersion was positively correlated with the marital conflict and was negatively correlated with mother¡¯s parenting style and father¡¯s parenting style. Second, Both mother¡¯s parenting style and father¡¯s parenting style worked as complete mediators on the relationship between marital conflict and child¡¯s game immersion. The implication and limitations of this study were discussed, and suggestions for further study were proposed.
